Adams State University - BS, Molecular/Cellular Biology
I earned my undergraduate degree at Adams State University in molecular and cellular biology. There, I volunteered my time to educate other students in the sciences. I spent time working at a lab after graduation, where I had the opportunity to work with other scientists on real-world applications. That experience gave me the drive to receive more advanced credentials, and I am now in the process of finishing the thesis portion of my graduate studies to receive my Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the University of Denver.Over the course of my graduate studies, I've had the opportunity to educate undergraduates in several different science classes. Through teaching and the time I spent volunteering as an undergraduate myself, I have gained a valuable background in educating students of different ages, backgrounds, and levels of knowledge. I have found that one of the most critical aspects of education is establishing a good comprehension of basic principles. Without a complete knowledge of the core principles, you lack the base upon which to build more extensive knowledge. It is my belief that individuals who are having trouble with biological sciences do not have that strong understanding of primary biology knowledge and that it is important to strengthen their comfort with those areas before building on that knowledge. I make an effort to help students find biology as appealing and fun as I do.
