Since I graduated Iowa State University with a B.A. in English, and a concentration on secondary education, I have taught reading/writing, speaking and listening, and language skills to students in urban, suburban, and rural schools. Writing and reading comprehension are what I enjoy tutoring most but I can tutor many other subjects including grammar, literature, phonics, public speaking, geography, social studies, science, study skills, and test prep. I cover tests such as the GED, ASPIRE, ACCUPLACER, COMPASS, ISEE, HSPT, ACT, and SSAT. Individual instruction and tutoring, in my experience, is the best way to work with a student's needs and interests.In Chicago, I once taught 11- to 21-year-old at-risk/ underprivileged kids while working at a program dedicated to students who dropped out. I worked at Ombudsman centers in Omaha, Nebraska, and Aurora, Colorado, during this time, while I also had the opportunity to teach at a Waukon, Iowa, in an underprivileged public high school. My current location is Denver, Colorado. You may think I am always busy teaching, but I do many things in my spare time. My favorite interests are hiking, camping, and backpacking as well as reading, cooking, volleyball, and funk and Bluegrass music. I enjoy writing and dogs and horses as well.
