Private tutor in Denver, CO
Johns Hopkins University - Bachelors, History , Yale University - Masters, Business
I live in the Minneapolis, MN, area, and I am a graduate of Johns Hopkins University and Yale University. I have a bachelor's degree in history and a master's degree in business administration. I have also completed the CFA exams levels I and II. I have undertaken tutoring because I love to help others succeed; I tutor mathematics courses mostly and these seem to be the most difficult for people. It is such a fulfilling moment when one of my students declares, "Got It!" I look at mathematics as a universal language of sorts; we can all read how numbers tell a specific story, and when pieced together correctly, we get to see the entire picture. I approach teaching using this methodology as well. I use a great deal of illustration, analogy, and examples when introducing new material to a student. I also approach each student as an individual who learns in their own way, and I am prepared to assist each one no matter their learning style. I tutor courses in middle school mathematics, pre-algebra, algebra 1, statistics, finance, business, and accounting. I also provide homework support and teach study skills and grammar and mechanics. In my spare time, I enjoy experimenting in my kitchen; I have sort of an Italian-based array of staples that are always in the kitchen. I also enjoy crafting with yarn, reading autobiography novels, and studying behavioral economics.
