I graduated from Sewanee: University of the South in 2014 with a major in Spanish Studies and a minor in Women's Studies. Senior year, I got distinction on my comprehensive examination. Junior Year, I spent 8 months living abroad in Barcelona. There, I took 5 classes taught completely in Spanish and lived with local women who grew up in Barcelona.
Experience
From personal experience, I recognize how difficult a foreign language can be to fully understand. Throughout my high school and middle school years, I had two teachers tell me that Spanish simply "wasn't for me". Seven years later, I have a degree in Spanish. I lived in Barcelona, Spain for 8 months during a semester of studying abroad my junior year of college. Without a tutor during high school, I would not be proficient in Spanish as I am today. I value the time my tutor put into helping me understand the aspects of the Spanish language that took me longer to grasp than my peers, without making me feel ashamed or frustrated by my need for extra lessons. I would love to pass that on to a student who is in the same place that I was with patience and understanding in a one-on-one atmosphere outside of what can be an intimidating classroom.

I recently moved to Denver from Atlanta, Georgia, so in my spare time I have been enjoying the beautiful mountains we are surrounded by here! I also enjoy exploring this new city that has so much to offer. I also enjoy photography (really, all things creative), hiking and spending time with my friends.
