Anxiety is the enemy of learning. An effective learning process requires that the student be open and willing, but fear creates an obstacle to that openness. Thus, my approach to teaching and tutoring involves breaking down those barriers by changing perceptions and eliminating fears. When you believe that Algebra can be manageable or that a single test will not determine the quality of your future, you're much more able to tackle that material with purpose and confidence. When we've created a realistic perception of the task at hand, we'll attack the material with enthusiasm and humor. My goal is to help each student attain the test score, semester grade, or GPA he or she is capable of. I'm available for tutoring in a wide range of subjects, including Arithmetic, middle school Mathematics, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I and II, Statistics, AP U.S. History, AP U.S. Government, and Social Studies. I also assist college students and adults in preparing for graduate-level admissions tests, including all sections of the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) and Graduate Records Exam (GRE). I attended the University of Pennsylvania and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and my experience includes working with students from the junior high school level through college. In my spare time, I enjoy reading and trivia.
