Critical reading and critical writing are two subject areas in which I am very confident of my tutoring abilities. I believe that reading is fun and it is my goal to help students discover their own joy in reading. It is very satisfying to me when I have the opportunity to assist students in digging into stories, getting past the basics, and understanding the deeper meaning. Critical writing assignments and school essays are also processes I thoroughly enjoy. I get excited when I dissect projects and this excitement helps me reach my students where they are and connect their interests to their writing. I am passionate about helping my students learn and I measure my success by their successes. I love the English language and that is evident when I am teaching.I am very capable of tutoring native English speakers as well as those for whom English is not their primary language. After graduating from the University of Colorado in Boulder, I traveled throughout Asia, spending almost four years teaching English as a Second Language. In 2007, I earned ESL certification from the University of Cambridge where I completed a CELTA degree.When I am not tutoring, I enjoy reading, watching movies and writing critiques, and walking in the park.
