ExperienceI believe I can simplify things for people, and make the material easy to understand. I believe I can help people build their confidence, and keep them entertained while learning. I think tutoring involves getting to know the person, and understand what works for each person based on their unique learning styles.
I tutored for two years for a company that provides English tutoring to S. Korean students abroad. I did this over the Internet, using an application that would allow us to call over there. It was very rewarding. The job required following a lesson plan, and providing feedback on grammar and pronunciation. I developed positive relationships with the students, and made the lessons as interesting as I could.
In my free time, I am a freelance writer. I have published articles on public policy and health/fitness in the Washington Times Communities Section, as well as for Yahoo Voices.
In law school, I took "Research and Writing" and "Advanced Writing," as well as "Appellate Advocacy." All these courses required extensive briefs that needed to conform to formatting requirements, and required a persuasive, coherent approach to writing. I also began to understand the importance of writing with clarity and precision.
I believe in the saying "easy reading is damn hard writing."
HobbiesI love the outdoors, and am very active. I love playing tennis, swimming, working out, hiking, and biking. I also like playing pool, chess, darts, and going bowling.
