Duke University - BA, English Language & Literature , University of Denver - MA, Literary Studies

I earned my bachelor's degree from Duke University and my master's degree in Literary Studies at the University of Denver. Since graduating, I have held a number of editorial positions and also spent time teaching Composition at Southwestern Colorado Community College. My goal when I tutor is to make real, tangible progress in each and every session. One thing I've discovered is that each individual student learns in his or her own way, which makes it key for me to tailor my lessons to their strengths and come up with a plan that will help them learn best. Since my background is in Language and Writing, those are two of the fields I am most comfortable tutoring, but I am also very capable in the subject of Math and have experience assisting students prepare for standardized tests like the PSAT, SAT, and GRE. The most gratifying thing for me as a teacher is witnessing the growth that students go through in our one-on-one tutoring sessions. I love spending a lot of my free time in nature, camping, hiking, mountain biking, and snowboarding. I also enjoy web design, writing, and photography.
