MA Mathematics, University of Colorado (2009) BS Mathematics, The Evergreen State College (2002)

Experience

In addition to the subjects listed, I can tutor abstract math as well: abstract algebra, number theory, real analysis, topology, etc. I have worked as a private tutor for over a decade, helping dozens of students with improving their grades, as well as test prep. I can tutor any level of math, from basic algebra to abstract mathematics. In addition, I taught mathematics at the University of Colorado for over six years. I have extensive experience working with students with learning disabilities and math anxiety, and with extremely gifted yet hard-to-motivate students.

Hobbies

I am a musician as well as a mathematician; I play in multiple bands (banjo and guitar), and love going on tour. I would say I look more like a musician than a math teacher, but I'm more than qualified to be either! I have interests in the arts (poetry, music, graphic arts) and in computer programming and physics. I love working bicycles and building things, and creative real-world problem-solving. I'm an avid hiker/climber and am a big fan of backpacking in the summer.
