Experience

I've been tutoring since I was studying at the University. I realize that tutoring-teaching was my passion when I found that many of my friends and many school students were not performing well because they didn't have the necessary tools to success in Math. Since then I've been teaching all my working life, I've taught at all levels, from elementary to high school and thereafter preparing students to success in the University admission exams. I have 30+ years teaching Math. While in Denver, I've been teaching-tutoring juniors and seniors preparing them for SAT and ACT exams. I've been doing this as a volunteer without receiving any payment for it, as member of the Rotary Club I did this to serve others. If required, I can get some letters of recommendation, I believe there are some people that may recommend me gladly. I have no score to show because, since I'm not an American person, I didn't need to have that scores. However I'm willing to take the exams, if necessary. I want to be a Math Tutor because I think that, with the appropriate tools, every child can experience academic success. If this happen, their self confidence will be positively impacted improving their possibility to achieve all their targets during their life. As I'm an Engineer, I've been involved in several subjects that have always required of Math to be solved. I always think that a complex problem is, somehow, a sum of some or many simple problems and if you can find the solution for the simple problems you will success solving the complex one. While studying at the University and during all my work life I was trained in all different levels of Math, advanced Math, Physics, structures, strength of Materials, etc. but my passion was set in teaching Math. I am looking forward to get back to teach, I think that each student is unique in their learning capability, so I like to get to know each student to determine how to work with and build upon their strengths. I've been teaching during all my working life and I hope to continue teaching because I know I can reinforce Math skills of students and help and lead them think mathematically. I hope you consider my passion for teaching kids and youth as well as the experience I have.

I'm a resident of the USA, living in Denver since 2012 with my lovely wife Ana. As we love kids and youth, we decided to live in Denver because we have two sons and four grandchildren living here. This was the main consideration we had to move from Peru, our country, to Denver. For your consideration I want to let you know that, when I start my classes, I use to speak to the students about the way we'll behave in our time together, and I include two messages: One say "Your main target is to be today better than yesterday, and tomorrow better than today". The other message I include is "You should always take care of Children and Elders, Elders took care of you when you were a Child and today's Child will take care of you later". These have been part of our principles and we have raised two wonderful sons and now we are trying to help them with their kids, we believe in family as the base of the society.
