Experience
I am a graduate of Johns Hopkins University, where I earned my degree in Neuroscience. I am also certified to teach English as a foreign language, high school science, and have developed a program to teach a variety of subjects to elementary school students. I have over six years of tutoring experience, and enjoy helping students in many different math and science subjects like algebra, biology, geometry, and trigonometry, among many others. I am also able to assist students who are preparing for the ACT, HSPT, ISEE, SAT, and SSAT. As a tutor, I am sensitive to the feelings that can arise from academic struggles, and am empathetic when dealing with challenging topics. I strive to help students discover the fun in each topic, and to develop the confidence and skills to help them work through difficult problems on their own. I customize my approach to fit each student's preferred learning style, and I love using different teaching tools to clarify complex concepts. I bring a sense of humor to each session, as I believe learning should be fun no matter what we're working on. When I'm not tutoring, I enjoy activities like swimming, hiking, skiing, drawing, practicing yoga, and volunteering with wildlife preservation organizations.
