Private tutor in Denver, CO
SUNY at Binghamton - BA, English, General Literature and Rhetoric , Georgetown University - MA, Communication, Culture and Technology
My name is Kim and I live in Denver, Colorado. I attended both State University of New York at Binghamton, and Georgetown University, Washington, D.C. I'm a writer and English tutor who is currently completing my teaching license in Secondary English Education. My love of English, literature, and writing was so great, that I decided to make teaching it to others my career. I hope to pass on my passion for reading and writing to all my students. I tutor using the Socratic method, which engages students by encouraging interactive discourse between teacher and pupil, and having the students participate by teaching what they've learned back to me. By allowing the students to become active in the learning process, they learn to think critically and to determine how to structure arguments, how to weed out incorrect answers in a multiple-choice test, or how to determine an author's intent or theme. I can tutor you or your student in writing, reading, essay editing, grammar and mechanics, literature, English, and public speaking. I can also help students with test preparation for AP English language and composition, AP English literature and composition, SAT verbal, and SAT critical reading. I look forward to working with you.
