Experience

I'm a freelance writer and editor in Denver. I have over eight years of professional writing and editing experience. Currently, I'm the Managing Editor and Nonfiction Editor for an online and print literary and art journal based out of Johns Hopkins University, The Doctor TJ Eckleburg Review. I am also a columnist as well as an instructor for monthly online creative nonfiction workshops. Along with Eckleburg, I'm editor for the Rainier Writing Workshop MFA program’s craft journal, Soundings, the Nonfiction Editor for the literary magazine Pithead Chapel, and am the Associate Essays Editor for the publication, The Nervous Breakdown. I volunteer read and edit for many online journals, as well. For my own writing, I have over 70 publications (all in the last 3 years) that are predominately nonfiction/personal essays, with some reviews, interviews, a few short stories and a poem thrown into the mix! My collection of personal essays, There Is Nothing Else to See Here, will be published in January 2015 by The Lit Pub. My other collection of essays, BodyHome will be published in the late winter of 2015. Along with working on my own writing and manuscripts, a lot of my time is spent working on the freelance editing projects I have been hired to do. Currently, I am helping a woman edit her series of eighteen workbooks she wrote that are all focused on reading and writing poetry as a way to heal from emotional trauma experienced because of different types of social and self-stigmatization.
