EducationI'm a student at the University of Colorado at Boulder. My majors are environmental studies and political science, though I've also taken a number of economics and engineering courses. I have about a year left before I graduate, after which I plan to start applying for grad school.
I don't remember my SAT score, but my ACT was a 32, and I received 4's and 5's on my APs (history, government, chemistry, writing). I've previously tutored some in high school and college and have taken relevant classes in all the topics I listed under "Subjects."
I hope to use my experience to help others improve their grades and/or test scores.
HobbiesMy basic philosophy about tutoring:
I feel there is always a way to get a topic across to someone; if one way of teaching doesn't work, then it's up to the teacher to change their style to best fit their student.
I really enjoy tutoring. There's two things in particular I find especially amazing:
The first is working with a student and hear them say, "Oh, that's what it's all about! I get it now." Seeing that sudden "click" when a difficult subject is suddenly clear is absolutely golden. The second is being able see the improvement they've made. It's fantastic for everyone involved when you can compare work from one point - say a month prior - and see a drastic improvement when compared to current work.
As for hobbies/interests:
I like sports, especially basketball, baseball, and soccer. I also really enjoy watching movies, and I'm a major bookworm (my friends literally come over to my apartment to borrow books instead of going to the library). Despite all the time I spend reading, though, I'm actually pretty outgoing and enjoy spending time outside, especially when it involves hiking or skiing.
