Eliza B.
Private tutor in Denver, CO
Education
I attend the University of Denver, where I am in my first year in the Literary Studies M.A. program. I have a 3.9 GPA.
Experience
In my undergraduate time at Regis University in Denver, I was a writing consultant (tutor) in the Writing Center. I assisted both undergrad and graduate students with papers. I am currently employed by the University of Denver's Learning Effectiveness Program as a writing tutor for students with learning disabilities. I have always sought employment as a tutor because I find that one-on-one conversation, brainstorming, and instruction really help in the writing process and can take some of the mysterious pressure away from this often-dreaded academic activity. I love to form ideas, reflect on my own perceptions, and see where they take me as I attempt to present them in written form. I am happy to help others, of all ages, find some joy, or at least interest, in writing. In my undergraduate English program, I received the 2009 English Major Award, awarded to one student per year. I graduated summa cum laude from Regis University.

Hobbies
In addition to tutoring, I have been a full and part-time nanny in Boulder and Arvada. I also played and coached girl's basketball throughout high school. Coaching girl's sports, even just in a summer camp setting, was very fulfilling and such a fun way to engage with and motivate self-esteem, and personal strength in young women. I am a visual artist (acrylic painting) and a musician (vocal, guitar, piano) I write poetry and seek creativity in all of my writing.
