Experience

The Art Garage (Administrative Assistant and Instructor) April 2014- Present: As an Administrative Assistant I handle all clerical duties, registration for classes and birthday parties, aid with scheduling and organize monthly art sale festivals during the summer months. As an Instructor, I design my own three-hour art education based lessons for 3-12 year olds and facilitate projects. Baby Signs With Marissa (Baby Signs Instructor) September 2013-March 2014: Lead story times where I teach parents how to sign and actively read with their babies, host Parent Workshops, and instruct 6 week Sign, Say, and Play classes that are both fun and educational, promote early communication (for hearing and E.I. children) while building a foundation for early education. In-home Tutor May 2012-March 2014: Helped a student with Asperger’s/anxiety over-come fear of writing, compose 20+ top-notch research and personal essays, as well as prepare for (and pass with flying colors) the G.E.D. Pratt Institute Writing Center (College Tutor) September 2008-April 2012: Provided international, graduate, and undergraduate students with the fundamentals of writing: drafting and revising assignments; build speaking, listening and grammar skills. Aided with setting appointments. NYC (Self-Employed Freelance Writer) May 2008-January 2012: Wrote and submitted my poetry and short fiction to literary magazines; online writing: articles and blogs; also wrote, directed, and produced off-off Broadway short plays. I would love to tutor again because I love being a factor in someone's educational growth. It's not my job to just help someone pass a test or get a good grade, it's about helping them build a love for learning.
